Tax Relief for Hurricane Irma

IRS announced that taxpayers with an IRS address of record in the disaster areas are automatically provided filing and penalty relief.

Hurricane Irma affected states, counties and US Territories are:

  • Florida Counties: Broward, Charlotte, Clay, Collier, Duval, Flagler, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Putnam, Sarasota and St. Johns.
  • The entire state of Georgia
  • US Virgin Islands: The islands of St. John and St. Thomas
  • Puerto Rico: The municipalities of Culebra, Vieques, Canóvanas and Loíza.

All taxpayers with valid extensions for personal and business will have until January 31, 2018 to file their income tax returns. Any tax payments due September 7, 2017, and after will be due January 31, 2018. However, this does not include 2016 Individual Income Tax payments due 04/18/2017.
